Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Ria Sarkar and I’m an art writer based in New Delhi.
Artjourn is a professional art blog that has a three pronged approach – bringing aspects of South and Southeast Asian Art History to its readers, exploring street art in the Delhi-NCR region, and covering select exhibitions and art events in India.
I’m a postgraduate in History of Art from the prestigious SOAS University in London with a background in English Literature from Hindu College (Delhi University). I specialize in Ancient Art of the Khmers (Cambodia) and am passionately curious about Saivism.
My fascination with Art History began during a summer school programme in Cambridge. Among other subjects, I took up Modern European Art on a whim and soon realised I’d found my calling! At present, while my fascination with Modern and Contemporary Art continues, I’ve discovered new subjects like South East Asian Art during my postgraduate studies, which I want to share with my readers. (that means you!)
My primary aim is to bring art to the uninitiated as well as the enthusiast. Most importantly, you’ll find here a well-researched collection of articles that can be enjoyed by people from all walks of life.
